PayByCheck (formerly i-check) has become the best alternative to a credit card for Internet transactions.
According to the American Bankers Association, 80 million people have credit cards but
almost 200 million Americans have checking accounts and PayByCheck allows you to accept
payment from these 200 million accounts instantly right from your web site.
You do not need any special hardware or software since all processing is handled by PayByCheck.
Your customers only need a web browser and a checking account. You can also enter the information
for your customer in cases of phone or FAX orders.
Studies have shown that most on-line customers are not comfortable using their credit cards to
make purchases. PayByCheck gives your customer the control to authorize one transaction at a time.
Customers now have a convenient, familiar, and comfortable interface with which to do their online
business.
With PayByCheck, your cash flow will be greatly enhanced because sales can be closed instantly -
the moment your customer decides to purchase goods or remit payment for services.
How it works with virtualCART
There's a lot to like about PayByCheck. As mentioned above, you can capture impulse purchases from
all people without credit cards, or who don't want to use credit cards on the net. If you don't have
a Credit Card Merchant Account, PayByCheck plus the PayPal checkout option we support are a viable
operating method.
They only charge a $99 setup fee, and you can have your account set-up quickly and automatically,
just like virtualCART. They charge a bit over $1 per PayByCheck, but at a 3% (plus per trans fee)
charge by credit companies, the break even is on about a $25 order. On a $300 order, you'd save $8
over a credit card purchase, enough to pack and ship the order!
Setting up your virtualCART account to offer PayByCheck as a payment is easy, requiring only
checking the box for PayByCheck in the cart configuration form and entering your PayByCheck merchant
number.
How does it work? The PayByCheck payment method simply becomes another checkout choice that
shoppers are offered at checkout time. They fill out a form on cartserver, then we pass them over
to PayByCheck.com to fill out the "check" page (which looks like a real check). You'll get the
emailed order as usual followed by the receipt from PayByCheck. The check from PayByCheck will
come in the postal mail in a couple days. It's just that simple. The shopper writes a check without
writing, stamping, and mailing it. Shoppers don't need a PayByCheck account of their own to make
payments via PayByCheck, you just need one to RECEIVE payments via PayByCheck.
